Our Story
Designing for Dementia Since 2006
In 2006 my future jumped tracks and landed on a course I could never have imagined.
Answering one question in the affirmative became the defining moment which changed my life:
“Can you design signs for people with dementia?”
The Beginning
Fast forward a year and I’d launched our first designs under the Find brand, continuing to work with Bupa and a rapidly growing number of care providers with the endorsement of Stirling University’s DSDC team.
A little further down the line and I found myself working with the Alzheimer's Society on their National Dementia Action Alliance initiative.
As an engineer from Leeds owning a successful business which ‘made stuff’, the challenge of adapting our skills to make something brand new that could help make life easier for a growing section of our population was irresistible.
A New Direction
By 2017, Find had been part of a larger organisation and the objectives were no longer as altruistic as I felt they should be.
So in December 2017 I made a surprisingly easy decision. I resigned from the entity I’d created to start an entirely different type of business.
In January 2018, TCHD opened for business.

In the 90’s, Tom Kitwood explained the significance of our surroundings and how psychological and physical well-being are profoundly influenced by the place where we live.
Meeting the Scottish Dementia Working Group felt like putting my head in the mouth of a lion — but they welcomed my work and gave me a huge confidence boost to press on.
Meet The Founder
With over 20 years working in the sector, our founder has helped shape dementia-friendly design across the UK.
What began as a single request became a mission to create environments that support people living with dementia.
