So what's it all about Pete?

It’s nearly 20 years since I became involved with Dementia Care working with Bupa and then Stirling Uni’. Since then I've had the privilege of working with the good and the great across the sector and even found my life partner in one of the most knowledgeable and impressive dementia specialists in the country.

My passion for doing what I can to help people who live with this condition, hasn’t changed since I realised what I was getting involved in all those years ago. Knowing I can provide pleasure and support to people living with dementia is a calling that can't be ignored.

The Care Home Designer ‘happened’ essentially for three reasons. Primarily, I wanted to pursue my conviction that signage could be done better and that photographs can release hidden memories in a similar way that music can. The other two reasons were that I wasn’t happy in the business I had and that I wasn’t getting any younger – it was one of those now-or-never decisions.

Now we have some 70+ completed care projects out there that have been operational for some time, I know my beliefs were well-founded and people are benefitting in a variety of ways and enjoying our high quality products and unique antidotes for meaningless environments.

I’ve met and worked with some simply fantastic clients who've kept us very busy and we’ve now reached a point where we can be absolutely confident in the efficacy and suitability of our products and the range of benefits they can provide. It’s now my mission to tell more providers how working with us can deliver more support, comfort, distraction and meaningful engagement for their residents.
